Continuing our monthly recap of the trending keywords in Facebook for the month of April, Blueprint.PH has ranked the top 50 trending keywords every day from April 1 to 30. The ranked keywords resulted in 417 unique words that were collected and then categorized. The top keywords were based on their engagement scores, based on the interactions of comments, reactions, and shares.
Results for the month of April showed that Filipinos still value celebrating Holy Week as the keywords related to the occasion has been on top of all keyword categories. Covid-19 and related issues on the Indian variant, and community pantry were also among those most talked about issues during the month.
Kpop fans, and Ppop fans are active in expressing their love to their idols in social media, as Korean Wave and OPM are part of the current top 10. Kapuso stars Jillian Ward and Marian Rivera are the most mentioned among local artists. Brands related to artists such as Lazada (for SB19), Smart (for BTS), and H&M as endorsed by Kim Chiu also had high engagements, among Facebook users.
Moving forward, here is the top 10 list of the top trending keywords categories:
Consistently on Number 1 with a total engagement score of 72,326,811 is the category Faith. The keywords GoodFriday, Holy Week, and BiyernesSanto were among the top keywords among the 1500 rankings, as Filipinos celebrated Holy Week from March 29 and ended on April 4. The top post with most engagement score ( 49,751.0) under Faith is this Good Friday photo post from the Philippine Star, with this message “#GoodFriday: You would have no power over me it it had not been given to you from above. For this reason the one who handed me over to you has the greater sin. John 19:11”
Other top trending keywords under this category are: Quiapo Church, 500YearsofChristianity and MinorBasilixaoftheBlackNazarene.
On the second spot is Korean Wave. No one can stop Korean wave or Hallyu as one of the main favorites among Facebook users. Korean Wave has a total engagement score of 13,914,887. Posts on the keywords BTS, and the title of their upcoming track, Butter and all-girl group Twice, led the engagement among Korean Wave keywords. International K-pop superstar BTS’s brand endorsements for Hyundai, Fila, Smart Communications, luxury brand Louis Vuitton, and McDonalds were released this month and generated top engagement. Twice, another top trending K-pop idol group in the Philippines releases their new single for their comeback. The top post for Korean Wave is from the official page of BTS, with a post on the release of their Map of the Soul Photobook, with an engagement score of 111,466.5:
Covid 19 remained on top of the three of the trending keywords for the month, with a total engagement score of 11,625,935. Covid-19 has been consistently on top of trending keywords for the past 30 days. Quiapo Church, and ABS-CBN were the main influencers of Covid-19 for the month. Top issues related on Covid-19 for the month was the surge in India, emergence of community pantries, and the stories those who have lost their loved-ones due to Covid-19. The top post Covid-19, with an engagement score of 86,519.3 was from ABS-CBN News with a message, “’ANG DAMI KO NA PONG INIISIP’ May panawagan si Mayor Vico Sotto sa mga taga-Pasig na nagpapadala sa kanya ng kanilang #COVID19 vaccination status. #COVID19VaccinePH”
On the fourth place is the category Social Media, with an engagement score of 6,806,480. Social media hashtags facebooklive, highlights, and throwback are categorized under social media. These are usually inspiring stories posted in social media with specific keyword hashtags. The keyword #Facebooklive was the top keyword under this category, appearing 29 out of 30 days on the top 50 trending keywords. The post related to Facebooklive with the highest engagement is the Easter Sunday Mass of Fr. Joseph Roura, with an engagement score of 22,868.1.
At the same time, the keyword, “#repost” is the top keyword under this category with an engagement score of 186,053, and appeared one day among the top 50 trending keywords out of 30 days. This post from Inquirer.net, “A vendor from Quezon City who gives free ‘taho’ in hope to increase his subscribers on his Youtube channel, received more than what he asked for from Filipinos online”, had the highest engagement ( 62,699.1) related to keyword reports.
Esports took the fifth spot with an engagement score of 5,269,656. The keywords, Mobile Legends, bangbang, be legendary, MPLPH, are the main keywords under this category. The pandemic created more gamers in the country, especially among the younger generations. Influencer-gamers have made their own mark as celebrities, and at the same time, the gaming industry has set a new economic activities during these changing times. The top post under esports is this post from MobileLegendsOnlinePH: “Sa unang episode ng Road to Star, mukhang nag-backfire ang prank ni Andrea Brillantes at mapapalaban tuloy si Akosi Dogie”
This post has an engagement score of 71,624.8, and more than half a million number of reactions.
Local entertainment thrives in 6th place having an engagement score of 4.5 million. Among the 417 top keywords, actress Jillian Ward has the top engagement score of 1139531, appearing only ones over the period of 30 days. This post from her official Facebook page has more than 650,000 reactions:
Marian Rivera’s teleserye Firstyaya also appeared as one of the top trending keywordsunder this category, and also, her son, Six2. Six2, who celebrated his birthday was the number 1 trending keyword on April 16, having this post:
On the 7th place is local news, with an engagement score of 4.4 million. RaffyTulfoinAction, KMJS, and Bisingph are the top keywords under local news. The keyword, Bisingph had the highest engagement score of 1,060,705.00 and appeared 5 days out of 30 days, ranking number 1 and 2 on these days. Bising was a typhoon that entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility around April 17-21. Placing 8th with an engagement score of 3,015,366 is the category Pageant. Filipinos are long-time fans of beauty pageants, most specially, the Ms Universe. The keywords MsUniversePhilippines, RabiyaMateyo, and MsUniverse trended almost everyday during the month April. The top post for this category was from the Ms. Philippines Facebook page with:
Rabiya Mateo appeared 10 days out of 30 days, and gained a total engagement score of more than 500,000.
On the 9th spot is the category brands with an engagement score of 2.8 million. The brands Lazada, Smart, and H&M are the top brand keywords for the month. Lazada is the leading brand name with an engagement score of more than 500,000 and appeared 9 days out of 30 among the top 50 trending words. Smart, on the other hand, appeared 7 days and accounted for almost 400,000 engagement score. The top post under this category is from the Miss Universe Facebook page, asking those who would want to vote for Rabiya Mateyo to download the Lazada app inorder to vote:
On the 10th spot is, OPM with an engagement score of 2.3 million. And under this category is the keyword exclusively related to the rising P-Pop group, SB19. SB19 appeared everyday in the top 50 trending keywords, the highest rank was in number 3 for two times. The top post for SB19 was from ABS-CBN:
SB19 is the first artist from the Philippines and Southeast Asia to be nominated to the Billboard Music Awards, under the category “Top Social Artist”. Nominated along SB19 are big international Kpop names, BTS, Blackpink and Seventeen; and pop superstar Ariana Grande. The Top Social Artist will win from votes of fans.
