The Catholic Church regained the number 1 spot for the second half of the month of August. Consistently, the top keywords are Quiapo Church, Mama Mary, and the various names of Saints
On the number 2 spot is Blackpink. Blankpink’s fandom, Blinks actively engaged on social media upon the group’s release of their new song, “Pink Venom”. Also hyped was their performance at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Typhoon Florita came it at third spot with the hashtag #walangpasok. Employees and students pleaded to the authorities on the announcement of whether or not they have class or office. Some posts boast about being ‘waterproof’ or investing water transportations such as jet skis to traverse the flooded roads of Metro Manila.
Social and digital platforms Facebooklive, Youtube, Youtube shorts came in at number 4. These platforms are also drivers of trending especially among fandoms and new tv shows.
Newly-launched and anticipated remake of Mars Ravelo’s Darna from ABS-CBN is at number 5.
GMA-7 alongside its Kdrama, Apoy sa Langit and Lolong and public affairs show KMJS is at number 6.
Government agencies DSWD and Deped is at number 7 with trending topics on the opening of the school and financial educational assistance.
Basketball and volleyball held its spot consistently in the top 10 at number 8- more specifically on the posts about the Philippine Basketball Association and the Asian Volleyball Conference.
Kdrama is at Number 9. The Extraordinary Atty Woo which ended its first season (2nd season has been confirmed!) and Alchemy of the Souls are the Kdrama series most talked about by Filipinos.
And on the number 10 spot is Ninoy Aquino. The Philippines honored the death of a national hero, Ninoy Aquino, on 21 August.
Other runner ups include Mang Inasal, BTS, SB19 and Heart Evangelista.
