Blueprint.Ph’s TOP TRENDING TOPICS DATED OCTOBER 1-15

We are in the final quarter of 2022 and this year, we have enjoyed various content that we engaged with online. Blueprint.Ph presents the top ten trends during the first half of October from Facebook posts.

GMA’s drama “Abot Kamay Ang Pangarap”, starring Carmina Villaroel and Jillian Ward, earns the top spot in the trending list. In Facebook alone, its 24th episode achieved 6.5M views. Controversies surround this show specifically on the disregard of hospital regulations and procedures, reminding audience that this is work of fiction and far from reality.

The Catholic Church, the Queen of trends, occupies the second spot this time. The Quiapo Church earned a total of 493,834.9 engagements and 288 mentions in the past two weeks. Saint Therese of the Child Jesus and Saint Francis of Assisi trended along due to the celebration of their feast days – October 1 and 4, respectively.

Superstar boybands dominate engagement

P-Pop sensation SB19 is at number three. The group concluded the local leg of their Where You At (WYAT) tour and is now looking forward to their Dubai performance on October 29. They are also awarded as the Outstanding Filipino Gamechangers of 2022 at the 2nd Gawad Balisong Awards.

Kpop juggernaut BTS owned the fourth trending spot. The group had a total of 1,852,862 engagements  due to their Yet To Come concert in Busan for the 2030 World Expo Bidding. BTS Army from all over the world joined the concert: 50,000 onsite, more than 5,000 for liveplay, and more than 50 million online streamers. In addition, the month was also welcomed as “Jimtober”, in honour of BTS Park Jimin’s birthday.

Father’s love, untimely death, and historical drama drew engagement

Another win for KMJS for becoming the fifth most trending topic. The show’s episode featuring father begging the streets for the medication of his ailing daughter touched people’s hearts,  and earned 7M views and counting. Filipinos are truly easily drawn to stories of real-life struggles and valiant love.

Percy Lapid is sixth in the trending list. Percy Lapid, a veteran journalist has a Youtube show with 227,000 subscribers. As a known critique of past and present administrations, his untimely death sparked controversies regarding press freedom and conspiracy theories. At the same time, received messages and condolences and sympathies from the public.

Another one of GMA’s shows, Maria Clara at Ibarra, is the seventh trending topic. The unique, mystical drama starring Barbie Forteza, Dennis Trillo and Julie Ann San Jose which premiered last October 3rd became the joy of Filipinos during primetime.

Basketball and collegiate sports are hot topics

PBA/NBA occupied the eighth spot. This was due to the engagements of the Filipino fans towards anything related to the sport.  Additionally, art posts on Commissioner’s Cup for PBA and NBA like the charcoal painting of Michael Jordan and that of BTS Suga with Stephen Curry made noise, as well.

UAAP is the ninth trending topic. The UP-DLSUmen’s basketball game held at MOA Arena last October 1stwas highly talked about on Facebook. Women’s volleyball also trended along, especially the news about star players Deanna Wong and Maddie Madayag.

Sexual harassment needs to be talked about

The tenth spot in the trending list is owned by Kapamilya. This is due to the controversy surrounding artists Rhys Miguel and Patrick Quiroz, where the former claims to be molested by the latter during their joint schedule. The issue of sexual harassment brought concern and disappointment to the netizens.
