BTS sweeping rankings as smoothly as Butter
Topics about South Korean artists continue to gain more Facebook interactions, as the Korean Wave category has ranked second or third in our monthly ranking. For May, global superstar South Korean artists BTS drove the interactions on the Korean Wave category. Composed of RM, Suga, Jin, Jhope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, and presently owns the title, the biggest boyband on the planet BTS gained a total engagement score of more than 8.7 million which is way ahead of the other Kpop groups in the ranking. BTS ranked number 1 for 13 days out of 31 days in our daily top 50 trending keywords. May is a very active month for BTS content as they hyped the release of their new single “Butter”. Before Butter’s releases are the photo and video teaser drops which started on May 13. Butter was released on May 21 and broke records set by its predecessor Dynamite. Among Butter’s records is the highest record for a premiere video with 3.9 million views on Youtube, the highest views for 24 hours (108.2 million) also in Youtube, and the most played track in Spotify for the first 24 hours upon its release ( 11,042,335). At present, it is on its 3rd week in Billboard 100. These metrics show the popularity of BTS’s Butter and the BTS themselves.

Blackpink: 4 MVs with more than 1 billion views
Blackpink comes second with an engagement score of 936381.2 from 3912 posts. Blackpink is the first K-pop group to achieve 1 billion views for a music video, and at present has four music videos with more than 1 billion views. TXT, a newcomer, places 3rd
On the third spot with an engagement score of 655177.8 from 3509 posts is a newcomer on the monthly top 10, Tomorrow X Together or TXT. TXT is a member all-male Kpop group that debuted in 2019, composed of Soobin, Yeonjun, Beomgyu, Taehyun, and HueningKai, and under BigHit Music the same agency with BTS. TXT ranked number 1 for one day out of 31 days in our daily trending keywords monitoring. The comeback album, The Chaos Chapter: Freeze, was announced to be released on May 31 and its teaser has the most engaging post.
The lead single 0X1=Lovesong (I Know I Love You), has now more than 22 million Youtube views since May 31.
Twice, Exo, IU maintaining their ranks; Twice and Exo releasing new albums
Conquering the fourth spot with an engagement score of 426450.2 from 2940 posts is Twice, a nine members all-girl group composed of Nayeon, Jeongyeon, Momo, Sana, Jihyo, Mina, Dahyun, Chaeyoung, and Tzuyu. Twice has consistently been in the top 5 most talked-about Kpop groups on Facebook since January. Twice announced their comeback in June with the new mini-album, “Taste of Love”. Twice ranked number one in 1 out of 31 days in May; the keywords “Taste of Love” also trended in May. Twice also has the record of having more than 17 unique music videos with 100 million views on Youtube among girl groups.
