Recent sentiment analysis on trending keywords show Filipinos making a total of 128.44 million engagement scores in Facebook on 1,400 topics or keywords from February 1 to February 28, 2021, according to data gathered by BluePrint.PH. BluePrint.PH is a data analytics and campaign consultancy firm with focus on sentiment analysis, audience research, social network engineering, and campaign planning.

The 1400 trending keywords collected were divided them into keyword categories, resulting in an engagement score of 128,439, 513. The engagement score of a post has a formula based on shares, comments, and reactions — like (šŸ‘), love (ā¤ļø), Haha (šŸ˜†), sad (šŸ˜¢) and angry (šŸ˜”).

The top five (5) keyword categories that gathered the highest engagement scores are:

  1. Faith – Consistently on top of the list of keyword categories is Faith. For the month of February, Faith has more than 48 million engagement scores, or 38% of all Facebook engagements by Filipinos in February 2021.

Base on sentiment analysis on trending keywords.Ā  The keywords #500yearsofchristianity, #wegiveouryes and #quiapo church are the top keywords under this category. Filipino Catholics are celebrating the 500th year of Christianity in the Philippines, with the theme, We Give our eyes.

Quiapo Church has 3,179,094 followers, and actively posts announcements and broadcasts live its Mass through its Facebook page.

  1. Korean Wave — Under this category, Filipinosā€™ posts on the keywords BTS and its youngest member Jungkook lead the Korean Wave category. Global superstar and K-pop group BTS is consistently among the top trending keywords.

Korean Wave accounts for 27% of Filipinosā€™ Facebook engagement in February 2021 with 34.5 million engagement scores.

International news ā€“ The military coup in Myanmar accounted for a large percentage of Filipinosā€™ Facebook engagements, specifically the keywords hearthevoiceofmyanmar, justiceformyanmar, prayformyanmar. Posts, comments and reactions on the issue accounted for 9% of the total engagement score, or 11.5 million engagement scores. Filipinos express their solidarity with the civilian population of Myanmar, whose daily protests are now being repressed by the military junta despite protests from nations.
  1. COVID-19 ā€“ The keywords Covid19, Coronavirus and Covid19PH accounted for 8.6 million posts, comments and reactions by Filipinos, or 6.7% of the total engagement scores. Covid-19 is still a persisting problem in the country.

Although it places only 4th as a keyword category in engagement scores, it places consistently in the top 5 of the trending keywords everyday.

  1. Local Entertainment ā€“ Veteran broadcast journalist Jessica Soho is the top media influencer with her Kapuso Mo Jessica Soho, followed by Showtime’s #TNT4AngHUlingTapatan, and the movie #Tililing securing the highest engagement score among the top keywords.

Local entertainment accounted for 6% or 7.9 million of Filipinosā€™ Facebook engagements in February 2021. Tililing is a movie that takes up mental health. It has triggered discussions on how to approach people with mental health issues or whether or not the poster represents the real face of people dealing with mental issues.

The keyword categories that accounted for at least 3.2% of the total engagements scores were:

  2. Social media — Keywords like #Facebooklive, and #commentersofthemonthrepost are in the 7th place under the category Social Media.
  3. Brands ā€“ The top keywords in this category are #NasaLazadaYan, #LazadaPh, and Nido’s #TodoExplorer.
  4. OPM — The keyword here include posts about the band SB19, such as “#SB19IkalawangYugto”, “#SB19WhatisComing”.
  5. Inspirational ā€“ Topped by posts with the hashtags #Bringingbackbayanihan, #waybackwednesday, and #goodmorningmgatao.
